More info from Grand am Cup 996 guys

I emailed a couple of times with the guy and he was awesome. Basically, the GAC cars run stock engines, no accusump, stock headers. They all use Evo motorsports air intakes with sports mufflers. Suspension and sways can be upgraded and most seem to run ohlin or Moton.

The engine makes about 10-15whp and 10-15 lbfts with the air intake, muffler and an ECU remap. He reckoned headers were good for 10whp in a GT3 but was unsure in a normal 996.
