NFS v4 on Linux almost here

While the linux kernels have had NFS v4 support in for some time now, the major distros are looking at adding for this soon. LinuxWorld is doing a cover story this month on the testing effort.

This is a big deal for us as WebSphere 6.0 can take advantage of this technology to deliver very low cost highly available OLTP clusters. NFS v4 is currently only supported on AIX 5.3 and Solaris 10. Customers can use third party file systems with lease based locking and force write semantics but I think Linux support for this by the major distributions will help enormously.
